Section: Vol.II: the Noble FamiliesMr Rostropovich (of the City of St. Petersburg et al.)Author of the modern version and artist: Michael Medvedev, GHA[R]These arms were designed for, and belong to, the famous cellist and conductor Mstislav L. Rostropovich KBE (Hon), his spouse Galina Vishnevskaya, and their daughters. The ancient noble family of Rostropovich originally flourished in Lithuania, then resided in the Lesser Poland and in XIX century was recognised as a Russian noble family. From the times immemorial the family belonged to the armorial clan “Bogoria” [alias “Bogoryja”]. The present version is based on the Bogoria arms but according to the Russian heraldic customs, supporters (chosen by the armigers) are added to denote the rank of “ancient noble”; a motto in Russian is added as well.
»» Do you wish Michael Medvedev to make a unique, original painting of your coat-of-arms, flag or any piece of heraldic art?
