Section: Vol.IV: the Ecclesiastical HeraldryThe Patriarchal (Exempt) Parish of KizhiFamous for its fabulous wooden architecture, the island parish of Kizhi is directly subordinated to the Patriarch and enjoys the arms personally approved by His Holiness. So far no other ecclesiastical arms in Russia obtained such approval. These arms were the very first [and till nowadays – the only one!] ecclesiastical arms to obtain the formal consent of the State Herald Master in 2004. The arms were designed and painted by Dmitry Ivanov, GHA[R], in collaboration with the parish’s superior, Rev. Father Nicolas Ozolin.
