Vol.II: the Noble FamiliesAlthough the Soviet regime abolished the estates, titles and ranks of the Empire (and thus there is no nobility of the Russian Federation), this did not affect de jure the armorial heritage of the Russian nobility. Within the Imperial system, apart of being the "nobilitatis ornamentum", the noble arms were also just family attributes; in this aspect they had any practical and legal reason to persist, and, after the fall of the Soviet regime, to be publicly recognised as valid. Even more, the noble attributes (coronets, helmets etc) may be preserved within the achievements as elements de souvenir. |
