Winter 2006/2007: Good Night, America!

Author: The.Heraldry.Ru / Publication date: 2007-10-15

Winter 2006/2007: Good Night, America! The arms of the City of Anadyr' (Province of Chukotka) are based on an earlier emblem but its properly heraldic rendering is of a new creation and so is the achievement as a whole. Designed by D. Ivanov and M. Shelkovenko (artist); both GHA[R].

The coronet corresponds to the rank of a provincial center; supporters (rare elements in the Russian municipal heraldry) – are also allowed as an attribute of this rank (dexter: the Siberian Cossack, and sinister: the aboriginal archer). Note the uncommon turn of the bear’s head: he greets sunrise - Anadyr is a capital of the ultimate North-Eastern region of Russia.

Adopted by the city on October 14, 2006; registered by the Heraldry council on December 16, 2006 (No. 2025).
