New Lyon

Author: The.Heraldry.Ru / Publication date: 2008-03-10

New LyonWilliam David Hamilton Sellar, a historian, genealogist and lawyer from Edinburgh, has been appointed Lord Lyon King of Arms on the 8th of March.
Before this, David Sellar already served as HM officer of arms, namely Bute Pursuivant. The appointee succeeds Robin Orr Blair who had held the high office since 2001.

We are mentioning this appointment not only because it is of paramount importance, but also bearing in mind strong heraldic and genealogical links between Scotland and Russia.

To symbolise this, the arms of the newly created Lyon are displayed here in an intendedly "Russified" stylisation (by Michael Medvedev, GHA[R]).
